Launch of an EU Information Centre in Serbia

The Svetozar Markovic University Library is honoured to become the first university institution in Belgrade and the second one in Serbia to host the EU Information Centre (EUi) under the agreement concluded between the University library and the European Union, represented by the EU Delegation to Serbia.

Dr. Stela Filipi Matutinovic, Director of the University Library, and His Excellency Josep M. Lloveras, Head of Delegation of the European Commission to the Republic of Serbia will sign the agreement.
The ceremony will take place at the Svetozar Markovic University Library on Thursday, 5 February 2009 at 12.00 p.m.
As part of the official programme, Ms Stela Filipi Matutinovic and Mr Josep Lloveras will welcome the guests. Bozidar Djelic, the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister will deliver his address at the ceremony.
Professor Dr. Alexander Sedmak., vice chancellor for international cooperation of Belgrade University will also address the assembly.
The University invites media representatives and everyone interested to show their support by attending the event.

Il FMI chiede la razionalizzazione del sistema educativo della Serbia

Belgrado - I rappresentanti del Fondo monetario internazionale (FMI) hanno chiesto al Ministero della Pubblica Istruzione di attuare la razionalizzazione del sistema dell'istruzione, che comprende una rete di scuole, il numero ottimale di sezioni di impiegati. Secondo la stessa delegazione, le misure che il Governo intende attuare sono "in una certa misura in conformità con le raccomandazioni dai rapporti delle organizzazioni internazionali sullo stato dell'istruzione in Serbia ", afferma il comunicato del Ministero dopo i colloqui con i rappresentanti del FMI.
Il ministro dell'Istruzione, Zarko Obradovic, ha detto che il sistema educativo in Serbia ha la necessità di rispettare la situazione economica, in particolare per l'importanza dell'educazione, l'ulteriore sviluppo della Serbia e la crescita del prodotto interno lordo.
La missione del FMI ha avuto inizio il 24 agosto per effettuare la revisione di prassi per trasferire la seconda tranche dell'accordo stand-by con la Serbia. Il Consiglio di Amministrazione del FMI, il 15 Maggio 2009, ha approvato alla Serbia un credito di 2,9 miliardi di euro, che durerà fino ad aprile dell'anno 2011. La Serbia finora ha ritirato in una prima tranche circa 788 milioni di euro, e il ritiro della seconda tranche dipende dalla relazione della missione del FMI in merito all'attuazione della politica economica concordata in Serbia.
